The immediate image in the minds of most people at the mention of Vietnam is that of the Vietnam War fought against the United States. Today, despite lingering signs of past American involvement, the situation in Vietnam now is markedly different. Championship golf courses can be found across the country and luxurious golf resorts have been built in the city, countryside, and beach areas. With golf clubs stretched from North to South, golfers have multiple choices. Vietnam is lucky in so far as it possesses tropical year round golf weather, an expansive coastal shore, and temperate central and northern regions. Thus, the country’s golf courses offer almost every environment the serious golfer including year round playing conditions. When speaking about golf in Vietnam, it is important to note the 5 championship golf courses all located near to Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon. Each of the Vietnam golf courses presents a unique challenge for golf lovers of all skill levels. In addition to PGA quality golf courses our tours include expertly selected accommodations at luxurious and/or boutique hotels all located within the Saigon city center. |

The Ocean Dunes Golf Club located in Phan Thiet features a 6,746-yard Par 72 golf course designed by Masters and British Open champion Nick Faldo. It is an outstanding natural site with sea and wind swept sand dunes, tropical costal breezes and fantastic ocean views. Asian Golf Monthly magazine identified the course as one of the top-10 resort courses in Asia. The course is kept in superb year-round condition. Bermuda grass fairways are wide and generous, as expected in a resort golf course, but the dunes, sand bunkers, and vegetation buffeted by coastal winds bring strategy to every hole. There’s an authentic links quality to 6 of the holes; a tree-lined stretch on the 3 holes on the back nine feels like Pinehurst; and the strategic front nine, with its myriad water hazards, looks and plays like a PGA layout from Florida. |

King’s Island Golf Club is a 36 hole golf resort in the outskirts of Hanoi and arguably the most scenic course in North Vietnam. The golf resort lies on the shores of the Dong Mo reservoir 36 kilometers from Hanoi. At only 50 minutes drive from the capital, King’s Island is a high quality and convenient choice to include a North Vietnam golf package. In a uniquely Vietnamese touch, access to the course is by boat.As might be expected, water plays a central role in the course design and comes into play on 13 of the 18 holes. Many of the hidden greens require accurate carries over the lake or swampy terrain. A favorite hole among players of the course is the par five thirteenth, with the tee shot having to clear a gorge. Also par five, the 572-yard seventh is another favorite, featuring a double dogleg from an elevated tee. Probably the most extraordinary hole is the fourteenth, the highest point on the course affording a spectacular view of Ba Vi Mountain. |

Song Be Golf Resort was Vietnam’s first international championship golf course and is widely regarded as one of the most challenging layouts in the country. The golf resort was built in 1994 out of the natural landscape of fruit orchards and coconut palms. In 1995 the Song Be golf course was officially rated in accordance with the USGA/SGA requirements. The 18 hole resort style layout features 10 lakes. As Song Be translates as "little river", a tributary of the Mekong, it is unsurprising that water comes into play in eight of the 18 holes. with a challenging tee-shot between two lakes at the tenth. Mature tree lined fairways with undulating greens add to the overall golf course difficulty. Playing off from the blue tees is a challenge as the total length measures over 7000 yards. Song Be is a walking course and all the caddies are female. Golf carts are available for one of two golfers. A fully equipped and modern club house provides golfers with excellent ocean and sand dune views to enjoy the golf course and facilities after their round. |

The course at Vung Tau Paradise Golf Resort is a 27 hole layout. Due to the relatively long 2.5 hour drive from Central Saigon Paradise resort remains one of Vietnam’s least played golf courses. The Taiwanese designed Paradise golf course was the first seaside golf course in Vietnam and it offers challenges to golfers of all levels. Most golfers describe the Paradise course as a testing, links style design which has an in-land feel despite playing along pristine beaches with spectacular ocean views on many of the holes. Palms offer a little shade, and the sea breeze keeps things relatively cool. Paradise Golf Resort has nice practice facilities with full putting and chipping green and driving range with sea views. The clubhouse at Vung Tau has a basic restaurant which serves some unique Vietnamese seafood and ice cold beers. It is a good place to spend some time relaxing after your round. |

Vietnam Golf & Country Club has two 18 hole championship length golf courses. Located just 20 kilometers from the center of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Golf and Country Club is also the nearest golf club to the city. Set amongst 300 hectares of land, two great golf courses have been carved out of the existing woodland with minimal land movement, leaving you feel that the land was always destined to be a golf course, so natural is the lay-out and design. Open since November 1995, the 7,106-yard West Course at Vietnam Golf & Country Club features narrow tree-lined fairways and fast smooth greens. The Par 72 Championship Course hosted the Vietnam Open (Asian PGA Tour Event) in both 1995 and 1997. The course winds its way through the trees offering challenging tee shots to the tree lined fairways before playing to the softly contoured Bermuda Tifeagle greens, which provide beautiful putting surfaces all year round. The West Course’s difficulty lies in its championship length. Only single-digit handicap players are permitted to play off the Gold Tees and even from the normal men’s tees, this course can provide a very long afternoon to golfers of all abilities if their drives are not on target. |

The Chi Linh Star Golf & Country Club features 27 holes of challenging international standard golfing. The golf club, one of the newest in Vietnam, opening in late 2003, and is located about half way between Hanoi and the popular Halong Bay. Chi Linh Star Golf & Country Club played host to the first professional golf tournament in the north of Vietnam, the 2004 Carlsberg Masters Vietnam at which time the pure beauty of the layout was recognized by both golf professionals and amateurs alike.
Chi Linh Star Golf course was designed and constructed by Independent Golf Course Services a well known Australian firm who have also completed golf courses in Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and China. The golf course is constructed in a beautiful valley on rolling forested hills, with several creeks, lakes, and natural water hazards. Playing conditions at Chi Linh Star are well kept year round. Tiff Eagle grass greens insure smooth and fast putting surfaces similar to those of other prestigious golf clubs in the region (e.g. Thai Country Club in Bangkok). Tee boxes and fairways are a Bermuda variant developed specifically for Hanoi’s changing temperatures. The thick rough, particularly when left to grow long, will present a constant challenge even for the most accomplished of golfers

The 18 hole Tam Dao golf course opened in 2007 was designed to be the best golf course in Vietnam. Golf course design company IMG used the natural land contours and local flora and fauna to create a visual treat for golfers. Large mountains in the back drop frame each hole and give the impression of one being in the Alps or Adirondacks. The golf course plays through a series of lakes and streams, making it one of the most scenic Hanoi golf courses. Sea Isle Paspalum is used on the tee boxes and fairways, while Sea Isle 2000 Paspalum greens ensure smooth and quick putting surfaces. Various tee boxes cater for players of all levels and from the tips experienced amateurs and professional golfers will be required to use every club in the bag to score well. Excellent golf course maintenance consisting of double cut fairways, white sand bunkers, and close cut greens and fringes make playing Tam Dao a real treat. The course at Tam Dao is by far the best course in all Vietnam and rivals any of the exclusive member’s only clubs in the USA or Europe. |

The Long Thanh Golf Club offers 36 holes of golf in the former rice paddies and scenic countryside surrounding Saigon. Excellent year round golf course conditions ensure all golfers have an enjoyable time golfing at Long Thanh. The golf course is a long time favourite among locals, with some even preferring Long Thanh Golf Club over its more famous neighbour Vietnam Country Club. Featuring rolling fairways and large undulating greens, with many high lipped bunkers and water hazards on almost every hole to catch errant shots; the Long Thanh Golf Club is the epitome of golf in Vietnam. Fairways are palm and pine tree lined to ensure green conditions throughout both the dray and wetter periods. All 36 holes have their own character shape and this wide variety makes for good challenges for both high handicappers and professional golfers. Hole # 4, a par 3 is a good example of this. The hole is a truly spectacular par 3 with a choice two greens equally good! Both require accurate tee shot as there is out-of-bounds at the back of the longer green. The shorter green is possibly even more difficult surrounded by the “Great Wall of Long Thanh”, with club selection being of prime importance, as there is water guarding the front and a rock face behind the green. This is a once seen never forgotten hole.

The Bo Chang Dong Nai Golf Resort, located just 60 minutes from downtown Ho Chi Minh City, offers golfers some of the most dramatic golf course scenery in southern Vietnam as it is located on a large wooded land plot on the banks of the Cloudy River Lake. Each of the 27 holes is totally unique and presents the golfer in Vietnam a one-of-a-kind challenge. Designer Ward W Northrup laid out an attractive, but easily playable golf course. The Bo Chang Dong Nai golf course being at the bottom of a valley insures year round stable playing conditions without much wind. Water is in play on the Dong Nai golf course’s first five holes as well as seven of the back nine. The signature third hole, a par 3, 165 yard wonder, plays to an island green with stunning scenery and abundant wildlife around the lake backdrop. Other excellent holes at the Bo Chang Dong Nai golf course include the 395 yard tenth and the 535 yard eleventh; both of which require careful approach shots either to lay up or to carry water in front of the greens. Similarly, the fifteenth, a 405-yard left-handed dogleg, also has a green guarded by water in front. |
